Lloyd McClelland passed away on August 16, 2022, at the age of 62, in his hometown of Grand Blanc, Michigan from an unexpected heart attack.
He was born on May 5, 1960, in Cass City to Lloyd and Phyllis McClelland. He graduated from Ainsworth High School with the Class of 1978. He then went on to Saginaw Valley State University on a full sports scholarship and received a bachelors in 1989. In 1990 he received his master's degree from the University of Michigan. In 1990, Lloyd began working at the Hurley Medical Center from where he retired in 2018.
Throughout his life Lloyd was an athlete with a list of accomplishments almost too long to list. As a baseball player he was an all-city pitcher for Ainsworth Highschool. In football, at the age of 8 he made it to the semifinals of the National Punt, Pass & Kick competition. He played for Saginaw Valley State University, University of Michigan, Flint Falcons city football team, and even tried out for the Detroit Lions. Later in life he was an avid golfer who even won the Davison Invitational. His most outstanding accomplishment was in 2011 when he was inducted into the Greater Flint Sports Hall of Fame.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd McClelland Sr, his sister, Karen McClelland, brother-in-law, Michael Fisher, and stepfather Jack Baldwin.
Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his heart was full of love as he is survived by his mother Phyllis Baldwin McClelland, his three sons, Bryan McClelland, Josef (Judy) McClelland, Patrick McClelland (Jesse Breden).
Along with his loving partner of 13 years Christine Ruiz and her children Leandra Ruiz (Conner Skondinski) and Robert Schmidt and grandson Bentley Skondinski.
At his request, no funeral service will be held. Lloyd will be honored in a Celebration of Life on August 25, 2022, at the Elks Club at 7177 E Maple Ave, Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Visiting hours are from 11am - 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, funeral expense donations are greatly appreciated. Monetary donations can be made to Phyllis Baldwin McClelland.
