Sue Ross was born in Flint, Michigan on September 23, 1931. She was the first child of Walt and Adella Ross. Sue spent her youth in Flint Michigan. She moved with her family to Kennett, MO and graduated from Kennett High School in 1949. While working as a telephone operator, she met a young Army recruiting officer, the love of her life. Who is to say who recruited who? They were married May 4th, 1952 in Kennett and were happily married for 69 years. Those years were spent as a perfect military wife, traveling the world and raising 3 children while her husband served. Tom and Sue had three children, Dan, Dave and Sarah. During this time, she served in the Officers Wives’ Club and enjoyed being a hostess.

After 20 years in the military, they moved to Clio, MI and she continued her career as a telephone operator. She also was a very involved member of New Covenant Free Methodist Church and the Faith and Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a faithful, Godly prayer warrior who was involved and dedicated to serving the Lord. To name a few, she helped with Harvest Dinners, decorating, serving on many committees, and cooking at Covenant Hills Camp.

Her many hobbies and interests included bowling, teaching cake decorating, making gigantic homecoming cakes for Clio High School, working as an election volunteer and being a cheerleader for her grandkids in school and sports. She loved shopping for a good deal. She was an avid gardener, painted ceramics, and opened Petal Pusher Flower shop. After retirement, she and Tom had fun exploring the US in their RV. Their favorite destination was South Texas where for over 25 years they enjoyed being Winter Texans.

But most of all she treasured spending time with her friends and loved ones who extended far beyond her immediate family. Many called her Grammy Sue because of her love and acceptance. In her 91 years she gave us all a great example of good manners, patriotism, and Godliness. And most importantly, she showed us how to accessorize, add bling, and look our best at all times.

Surviving are: Children: Daniel (Annie) Cunningham, David (Melody) Cunningham, Sarah (John) Bostwick, and Rhonda Mulligan; Grandchildren: Ben (Amanda) Cunningham, Joe (Kathryn) Cunningham, Brad (Rhea) Cunningham, Stefanie (DJ) Williams, Kelli (Craig) Feusse; 12 Great Grandchildren: Ruby, William, Drew, Mitch, Jack, Kate, Josephine, Stanley, Freddie, Karli, Kholi, and Caleb; Brother, Charles (Carolyn) Ross; Many well-loved cousins and several wonderful nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Tom” Cunningham, and sister and brother-in-law, Janie (Charley) Moody.
