Cathy Langworthy (nee Swart) aged 68 passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 17, with her son and daughter at her side. Per Cathy’s wishes, no funeral will be held. Instead, there will be a memorial luncheon at a later date, where friends and family can eat a good meal, have some drinks, celebrate her memory and reminisce about the good times. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to the Millington Public Library.
She died as she lived - on her own terms. Never one to let adversity get the best of her, she lived her life to the fullest. Her kids and grandkids were the light of her life, and are a living testament to her generosity and love. She couldn’t have been prouder of all of them. Cathy loved to see the world, and always had a new adventure planned with her inseparable travelling companion and sister, Suzanne. Whether it was Paris, New Orleans, Madeira, one of her countless cruises, or a last minute weekend getaway, she was up for anything. She lived for her summers at the cottage where she never missed a sunset and spent her days walking along the beach or reading a book in the sun. Never one to stand on ceremony, she was always quick with a laugh, a card for any occasion, or a batch of her famous chocolate chip cookies.
Surviving are son, JR Langworthy, daughter Melissa (Joel) Donnelly, grandsons Aidan, Colin, Gavin, and Brennan; sister, Suzanne Mize, brothers Donald (Pat) Swart and Frank (Carol) Swart, sister in law, Mary Swart and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Leola Swart, and her brother Harold “Duke” Swart. She left a hole in our hearts that won’t soon be filled.
