Keeler, Sylvia Marie of Flushing, age 75, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at McLaren-Flint, surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Flushing Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Paul Pfeuffer officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. In Sylvia’s honor, memorial donations may be made to Voices for Children Child Advocacy Center in Flint, Michigan, at https://voicesforcac.org/donate

Sylvia was born in Jackson, Michigan, on November 15, 1949, the daughter of Glenn and Ruth (Breitenwischer) Randall. She graduated from Brooklyn High School, Class of 1967. Sylvia married Michael Keeler on August 26, 1972, in Brooklyn, Michigan. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1972 and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan in 1973. In 2001, she completed her master’s degree in Early Childhood Development from Oakland University. Sylvia worked as a Pediatric Physical Therapist for Flint Public Schools for over 30 years, serving many of those years at Durant Tuuri Mott and later at Manley Early Childhood Center. Additionally, she owned and operated Gymboree of Genesee County for over 10 years.

Sylvia enjoyed sewing and embroidery and was a faithful member of Flushing Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder. She and her husband loved traveling the world, with Costa Rica being one of their favorite destinations. Sylvia volunteered at Hurley Medical Center in the Surgical Waiting Room and at the Flint North End Soup Kitchen. She also trained as a CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer under Michigan law for Voices For Children. Sylvia, a five time cancer survivor loved gardening and was famous for her homemade cookies.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, Michael; son, Ian Keeler; daughter, Cara Keeler; brother, Scott Randall, and his wife, Debbie; as well as many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents.
