KOVALCIK, Anna J. - Of Flushing, age 94, died Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Hampton Manor of Montrose.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Thursday, February 22, 2024 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing,
Father Jonathan Perrotta officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Hampton Manor in Montrose or a charity of your choice.
Visitation 4-8pm Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Thursday at church until the time of the Mass.
Anna was born in Flint, Michigan on July 15, 1929, the daughter of the late John Kowalczyk, Pauline Danielczyk and step-father, Alexander Danielczyk. On September 4, 1948, she married James S. Kovalcik at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. James and Anna cruised Alaska and Hawaii and enjoyed spending time with friends and family in Florida and Northern Michigan. Anna was a stay at home mom, raising 4 children. She liked to sew, cook, and lots of crafts. Anna did not drive a car until her children were raised, and then worked several part time jobs to pay for her fun activities. Anna enjoyed bowling and Bingo and liked to attend Polka parties and trips to the casinos. A special thank you to the staff at Hampton Manor of Montrose for all the love and support they gave to Anna.
Surviving are children, Judith Gillis, Patricia (Gary) Chamberlain, Frank Kovalcik, Richard (Laura) Kovalcik;
8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James, sister, Stella Daniel, son-in-law, Tony Gillis and daughter-in-law, Lucy Kovalcik.
