KENNEDY, LeRoy P.– Of Burton, age 96, died Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/ LeRoy was born in Quitman, Arkansas on February 12, 1928, the son of William Albert and Beulah (Johnston) Kennedy.
He was one of eight children and was the last surviving sibling before his passing. After moving to Michigan for more opportunities, to raise his family and create a better life, he continued to support and visit his family in Arkansas.
On March 13, 1954 he married Joyce A. Coleman in Cordova, North Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army during the end of World War II and the beginning of the Korean War as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne division.
LeRoy was a loving Papa to his two granddaughters and would do anything for them.
He enjoyed puzzles, word searches, geography, and traveling. He also was a clever handyman and could always fix or build anything. LeRoy retired after many years of service at General Motors at the Ternstedt Coldwater Flint Plant. Surviving are son, Timothy and his wife MaryRose; granddaughters Lauren and Sarah.
He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce (Coleman) Kennedy and daughter Cynthia (Kennedy) Magness.
