Freddie was married to Carol for 57 years and they made their home in Mount Morris, MI. Freddie loved being outside in the garden or on his Cub Cadet mowing. He looked forward to Saturday night and RFD-TV for all his old time country music shows. He was a woodworker when younger making end tables, chests and cabinets. He could look at something and re-create it without any patterns. He was a mechanic and could fix almost anything. He loved going for rides on Sundays and when younger traveling, always wanted to see “what he had missed”. Taking a month off work the two of them traveled around the United States in “Lime Light” a lime green van he had remodeled. He was retired from Lombardi Food Service. When he retired he and Carol moved to Kentucky where they lived for 10 years before moving back to Michigan. He was diagnosed on April 6 of 2020 with lung cancer given two months and almost made it a year. He chose not to have radiation or chemotherapy, just wanted to be outside in the garage that he dearly loved, and to keep going. He went into Hospice in August of 2020 and was in the Medilodge of Montrose when he lost his battle with Lung Cancer, Kidney failure, Diabetes and Dementia. We want to thank the staff at Medilodge for the compassionate care that was given to him in the week he was there. Also many deserved thanks to McLaren Hospice, especially Makella, Anoopa, Chaplain Todd, Kristin his Social Worker and Danielle, and everyone who took care of him at the house as they were a blessing. I would also like to thank Bonnie (Carol’s sister) and her husband Tom Verbos who was always available for advice and help when needed. His cousins, Jeff and Lisa Hale for doing the jobs around the house that Freddie was no longer able to do. Niece Kristy Correll who was always available to listen. Special thanks to Dr. Bradley Lokken for his kindness and help. Special friends who were there in his time of need, Jim and Karen Elliott, Dave and Sharon Whitey, Eugene and Phyllis Beutler of Kingston, MI. Cousins Linda and Jasper Dunaway in Cincinnati, Ohio. Half-sister Jewell of Tennessee, who recently put a quilt pieces together which his grandmother Ada had started years ago. It is now hanging at the head of our bed. Jodi, who was his sitter and helped tremendously with his care. He received Dialysis at Fresenius in Mt. Morris until recently. Our thanks to them and special thanks to Gloria who always made him laugh when going in. MMR ambulance service for picking him up when he fell, they are angels in disguise. Numerous other relatives and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Wills. He was preceded in death by his mother, Desmond Reynolds, his father Ollie P. Wills, and half-sister Sandy Reynolds. Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
