SAWICKI, Mark James – of Flint, MI, age 75, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, in Mark’s memory.
Mark was born in Flint, MI on October 2, 1950, son of the late Michael and Gloria (Norton) Sawicki. Mark was a man whose greatest gift was his heart. For 25 years, he faithfully worked washing and detailing cars at Mike and Jackie’s Car Wash on Franklin Avenue and Delaware Avenue in Flint, where he became known for his hard work and genuine kindness. Mark never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Whether it was family, a friend, or a neighbor in need, he was always there to help with anything and everything. He was the kind of person who would literally give you the shirt off his back. His generosity came naturally, because caring for others was simply who Mark was. His life touched many people in quiet, meaningful ways, and the kindness he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Mark had a special love for hot rods, the timeless sounds of 1950s music, and gathering around bonfires with good company. He also had a servant’s heart and generously volunteered his time at the Eastside Mission and Food Pantry, helping others in his community whenever he could. Mark’s genuine heart of gold stopped beating when God gently called him home, saying, “Come unto Me.” Though he will be deeply missed, those who loved Mark can find comfort knowing that he is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus. “Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” — Hebrews 12:1
Rest peacefully, Mark. Your race is finished, your work is done, and you are safely home in the loving arms of Jesus. Your kindness, generosity, and beautiful heart will never be forgotten.
Mark is survived by his sister, Melody Sawicki; brother, Gene (Laure Jo) Warner; 2 nephews, Michael (Angela) Sawicki and Jonathan Langford; 3 nieces, Tina Gordon, Jeanette Gordon and Tanya (Robert) Hughey; brother-in-law, George Matney; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Gloria Sawicki; 3 sisters, Michaelle Gordon, Pamela (James) Langford and Susan Matney.
