SCHMIDT, Barbara Jean - Age 78, of Swartz Creek, passed away August 11, 2022, from a brave fight with cancer. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held from 12PM until the time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or charity of one's choice. Barbara was born July 13, 1944, in Detroit, the daughter of James and Sarah (McShane) Wimmer. She married Thomas in February 1971 and was happily married for 49 years. Together they were members of the Jaycees, where they developed lifelong friendships, who called themselves the Birthday Bunch. She was employed by Mary's Bouquet for many years and enjoyed seeing the smiles with each flower delivery. Barbara loved to play cards and supported her grandchildren in all their endeavors. She was most proud to welcome a great-grandson this year and was hoping to teach him to jump in mud puddles. We would also like to thank the kind, loving nurses at Karmanos Cancer Institute for their patience and gentleness with her every week. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Matus and Suzie (John) Carter; grandchildren, Chelsea (Kenny), Adam, Caleb, Calli (Austin), Casey and Kimberlee; great-grandson, Axel Thomas; brothers, Kenn Wimmer and Jerry Wimmer; special sister in law Judy (Randy) Baker and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Schmidt; son, Jason Schmidt; brother, Donald Wimmer and son-in-law, Christopher Matus. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com |
