ADKISSON, AGNES M. - Of Flint, age 98, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023 at Anchored Heart in Goodrich.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30am on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 7296 Gale Road, Grand Blanc, with Father Dave Howell officiating.
A private burial will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 1:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Agnes was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada on January 22, 1925, the daughter of the late Edward and Annie (Ratte’) Russell. She was married to James Thomas Adkisson Sr. on March 28, 1952 and they celebrated 59 years together until his passing in 2011. Agnes was a seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting angels that she would gift to her loved ones. She loved playing games, especially dominos. Family time was her priority and always cherished having the grandchildren around.
Surviving are children, Margaret Ann (James) Campbell, Gail (Paul) Mlasko, James Thomas Jr (LuAnn), Kenneth (Laurie) and JoAnn (Norman) Goodall;
grandchildren, Bridget, Bryce, James III, Jaime, Jennifer, Scott and Nichole;
10 great-grandchildren;
brother-in-law, Billy Wayne Adkisson;
sister-in-law, Joyce (James) Roush;
special friend, Jackie Hixenbaugh;
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Victor Misekow, who was killed in action in Korea; husband, James Thomas Adkisson Sr.; daughter, Arlene (Zeb) Oren and several siblings.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Anchored Heart Assisted Living.
