Helen Louise Stalzer, of Flushing, age 92, died peacefully at home on Monday, May 29, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Robert Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of Mass. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Helen was born in Kansas City, Kansas on October 11, 1930, the daughter of William and Anna (Meditz) Lawrence. She married Raymond Stalzer on August 26, 1950, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2021. Helen and Raymond moved to Flushing in 1963, raised six beautiful children and made many long and cherished friendships. Helen was a member of St. Robert Parish for 60 years and was involved in the Women's Guild, Friendly Visitor Ministry, and the morning Mass and Rosary group just to name a few.
Helen's faith, family, friends (and weekly hair appointments) were an important part of her life. She was an amazing example of faith, strength, grace and love, leaving behind a beautiful legacy for the many hearts and souls she touched during her lifetime.
We were blessed to have you for as long as we did mom and in your own words, "It has been a good ride."
Loving appreciation and gratitude to her daily caregivers, (lovingly referred to by mom as her "babysitters") Layla, Isabel and Olivia who loved and cared for mom as if she was their own grandmother - you were her angels on earth. Special thanks to Sabrina, Sasha, Angelina and Holly at Residential Hospice for your kindness and compassion during mom's journey home.
Helen is survived by her sons, Raymond E. (Marguerite) Stalzer, Paul (Paula) Stalzer, and John (Ellie) Stalzer; daughters, Marilyn (Dennis) Acheff and Joan Stalzer; son-in-law, James Wilbur: grandchildren, Sara (George) Joseph, John Wilbur, Mary Beth Wilbur, Ricky Acheff, Kelly (Matt) Fray, Brian Acheff, Justin Stalzer, Scott Stalzer, Elizabeth Stalzer, Kevin Stalzer, Kenny Stalzer, Cecilia Stalzer and Spencer Stalzer.; great-grandchildren, Dylan Joseph, Lily Joseph, Karyss Acheff, Kenna Acheff, Kynlee Acheff, Liam Fray, Conor Fray and Arianna Stalzer. She was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Loretta Wilbur, whom she missed dearly. |
