GILBERT, Edna L. - age 73, of Swartz Creek, died September 17, 2022. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473 with Fr. Louis Ekka officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Humane Society of Genesee County, G-3325 Dort Hwy, Burton, MI 48529 (https://geneseehumane.org/). Edna was born March 14, 1949 in Grayling, the daughter of Edwin and Lila (Beck) Owens. She was a graduate of Durand High School and married John A. Gilbert on February 4, 1972. Edna retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. She was a member of the VFW Post 3720 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 294 Auxiliary and the AmVets Auxiliary. Edna enjoyed flowers, gardening, shopping with her daughter and visits to the casinos with her husband. Surviving are: husband, John A. Gilbert; daughter, Sharron M. (Bruce) Richardson; son, John A. Gilbert, Jr.; four grandchildren, Charlie A. Coburn, Nicholas A. Coburn, Celia I. Gilbert and Nicole Richardson; brother, Bernie (Martha) Owens; aunt, Irene Garrett. She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Robert J. Gilbert; grandson, Ryan A. Coburn; and two brothers, Michael Owens and Robert Owens. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
