HOPTON, DOROTHY MAE - Age 83 of Flushing, Michigan went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Memorial services will be announced by the family at a later time.
Dorothy Mae Noble was born on January 26, 1938 in Smithville, Ohio to parents Isom Beecher & Tennie (Holland) Noble, Sr. She grew up in Rittman, OH with brothers Clifford, Clinton, James, Donald, Beecher, and sister Ruth Ann (Williams), all of whom currently or did reside in NE Ohio.
Dorothy married Denzel Dent Hopton on October 24, 1959 in Rittman, OH. They moved to Flushing, MI in 1965. Family members consist of 3 children: Dennis (and Guangjie) Hopton of Hong Kong, China; Daniel (and Linda) Hopton of Fenton; Debra (and Keith) Rozenboom of Swartz Creek; and daughter in law Melinda (Stump) Hopton (deceased 2017); 5 grandchildren: Chelsea (and Matthew) Chittick (Gaines); Cameron (and Jane) Willhelm (Nanjing, China); Kylene (and Evan) Taylor (Clio); Joshua Hopton (Fenton); and Logan (and Abbie) Hopton (Little Rock, AR); and 6 great grandchildren: Penny, Colt & Knox Chittick, Mason & Graham Taylor, and Hayes Hopton.
Denzel preceded her in death on September 7, 1990. Dorothy retired from Consumers Energy of Flint and Saginaw.
Dorothy was an accomplished pianist and organist and served as an accompanist in various Church of God congregations over 7 decades in Ohio; and Dupont St, West Court St, and Hilltop Church in Flint; as well as at First Church of the Nazarene (Flint). She loved the hymns of the church and very much enjoyed serving the Lord through music. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren & great children and being part of their lives.
