SHEPPARD, THOMAS W. “TOM” – Of Flint, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Per Tom’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1st 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 2nd at Faith Baptist Church, 7306 East Atherton Road, Davison.
Tom was born in Flint, Michigan on March 27, 1952, the son of the late Earl and Louise (Desy) Sheppard. He graduated Class of 1970 from Atherton High School, where he was an All-State athlete. On February 22, 1975 he married the love of his life, Gail Perkins.
Tom loved the outdoors, especially gardening and working in his greenhouse. He and Gail enjoyed spending time together backpacking and hiking the Porcupine Mountains. Tom also cross-country skied in the wintertime and took the family on many camping trips. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and runner. Most importantly, he was a family man and a strong believer in Christ.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Gail Sheppard;
2 daughters, Janelle (Craig) Gutzeit and Dana (Christopher) Richardson;
grandchildren, Logan, Owen, Paige, Zane, Dylan and Madelyn;
2 sisters, Holly Myers (Ron Horvath) and Diane (Duane) Eddy;
and brother, Timothy (Beth Ann) Sheppard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Louise Sheppard.
