Mr. Preston Gordon Baker was born November 23, 1953, in New York City. Gordon was the eighth child born to Alphonso and Barnledo Baker.

Gordon started his early education in the New York City Public School System. He relocated with his family to Flint, Michigan where he graduated from Southwestern High School. Gordon moved back to New York after graduation and worked at Harlem Hospital. After enjoying his adult life in the Big Apple, Gordon once again moved back to Michigan where he was hired at General Motors. After working at GM for several years Gordon decided to take the buyout and later became a certified CNA. Gordon worked as a CNA in both Michigan and later in Georgia where he resided for the latter part of his life.

Gordon met and married Mabalena Lincoln Baker with whom he has spent the last 5 years. Mabalena was his rock, companion, and caregiver throughout his illness. Gordon accepted Christ and attended Faith of God Holiness Church faithfully with Mabalena.

Gordon loved cooking everything, but for sure spaghetti and fried liver were two of his specialties. He loved singing, it was normal to see him singing while holding a broom or TV antenna for a microphone. He would say, “I should have been one of the Temptations instead of “David Ruffin.”
