Kathryn L. Halverson of Flushing, age 82, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Gentiva Hospice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am Saturday, January 4, 2014, at St. Robert Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate. Burial will be at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday at Rossell Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. until time of the Mass Saturday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Kathryn was born in Flint, MI on June 6, 1931, the son of Arthur (Ray) and Arlene (Bouttell) Shirley. She married Frank Lavelle in Flint in June, 1951. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1956. She married Robert Plyler in March, 1957. He preceded her in death. She married Ray Halverson in Flint.
Kathryn retired from the U.S. Postal Office in 1977. She was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church and formerly of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She loved gardening and ceramics.
Kathryn is survived by: two children, Valerie Tendall of Saginaw, Danny and wife Cheri Plyler of Corunna; six grandchildren, Caroline and husband Matthew Vrazel of St. Peters, MO, Timothy Tendall and fiancée Dolores Martinez of Goldsboro, NC; Christopher Plyler of Flint, Joshua Plyler of Grand Blanc, Erica and Sarah Plyler, both of Corunna; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Rosemary, and John Paul Vrazel; brother, Ronald and wife Alice Shirley of Davison; many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. She was also preceded in death by son, Tommy Lavelle, and great-grandson, Maximillian Vrazel.
