Terrance J Gross of Chesaning,
passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 25, 2025, at the age of 81.
Terry was born on September 21, 1943, in Owosso, Michigan, the son of the late Leo Gross Sr. and Geraldine (Krupp) Gross. He was a 1962 graduate of Chesaning Union High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth "Betty" Hedrich on April 25, 1964. Terry proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He made his career at General Motors, after many dedicated years of service, he retired in 1999. Alongside working at GM, Terry was a farmer his entire life, and took great pride in his farm and crops.
Aside from farming, Terry was an avid out west hunter who traveled all over the UP and Alaska hunting deer, moose, elk, coyotes, wolves, and did some occasional fishing. He was a man of few words, but was very social. He was a great listener and you could count on him telling it like it was. He loved giving orders, and was known for teasing people, just to get a reaction. You could usually find him wearing a flannel shirt with a toothpick in his mouth.
Terry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Gross; children, Karen (Ron) Guynn, Julia (Dave) Knisley, Danny (Sheila) Gross, Scott (Carla) Gross; grandchildren, Brookelyn, Morghan, Cole, Lindsey (Paul), Jordan, CJ, Kassidy, Kaitlyn (Bronson), Sarah (Gage), Jessica (Nick), Heather (Josh), Caleb; step grandchildren, Bailey, Riley, Charlie, Michael, Garett, and Hope; great-grandchildren, Adelynn, Brynlee, Cameron, Ellery, Decklan, and Leni; siblings, Mike (Fran) Gross Sr., Barbara (Richard) Vrable, Diane (Tom) Llyod, Patricia (Patrick) Marley, Leo (Rhonda) Gross Jr., Laurel Lehman, and Kathleen (Don) Gross; in-laws, Jim Davis, Ray Gardner, Joan Gross, Thomas (Cindy) Hedrich, Linda (Mike) Giesken, Ronald (Helen) Hedrich, and many special family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dale Gross, Douglas Gross, and Connie Gardner; in-laws, Robert (Marlene) Hedrich, Gerrie Gross - Davis, and Matthew (Bernetta) Hedrich.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm with a Knights of Columbus Rosary and Vigil service at 7:30pm, at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 10:00am with visitation starting at 9:30am at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Chesaning.
