ELBERT, Mrs. Virginia Belle - Age 78, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center. Cremation has already taken place. Mrs. Virginia Belle Elbert was born April 15, 1943 in Prescott, Arkansas, the daughter of Rev. Cecil Lynn and Vera Mae (James) Johnson. Virginia Bell (Johnson) Elbert “Ginger” was the youngest daughter of Rev. Cecil Lynn and Vera Mae (James) Johnson. At an early age the family, “Ginger” and her older sister Mae Vivian Johnson-Simmons relocated to Flint. After graduating from Flint Central High School, Ginger began a career at General Motors Delphi, where she retired after more than 30 years of service. Ginger had one son, Brian Elbert, whom she loved dearly. On Saturday afternoons, she’d take Brian and gather all the children in the neighborhood, plus her nieces and nephews and go to the movies. She loved cooking and making family birthdays special; by baking your favorite birthday cake. She loved traveling and visiting friends and relatives who lived in different parts of the country. Ginger was a fashion show waiting to happen, when she walked through the door matching from head to toe in beauty. She had a heart of gold, was fearless and no pushover so, you knew to step right. In her later years on Saturday afternoons, you might find her with her Jehovah Witness friends reading the Bible and praising God for his many blessings. Ginger loved her family and especially loved and admired her late sister Mae, who she spoke very highly of. Ginger leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted son, Brian Edwin Elbert; two nephews, Bruce Simmons and Eric Simmons; two nieces, Cynthia Simmons (Michael) Bagley and Alecia Simmons-Moore; great niece, Shakira Simmons (Wouter) Jansen; great nephews, Brandon Simmons, Michael (Michelle) Bagley, Eddie A. Moore, Kristopher (Ebony) Bagley; cousins, Ruth Helen Ivie, Ella Jackson; and a host of other great nieces, nephews, family and friends |
