PHILLIPS, Troy – of Otisville, age 56, died unexpectedly on Friday, August 7, 2026. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held with full military honors at 1PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Vassar Fraternal Order of Eagles – 651 State Rd., in Vassar. The family will receive visitors at the Eagles from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM, and visitation will be continued until 10PM following the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the family for future designation.
Troy was born on May 7, 1970, in Flint. He graduated from Lakeville High School and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Navy. For 33 years, Troy worked at Jabil Circuit, Inc. in Auburn Hills as a machine support technician. In 1989, he married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Donna Peterson, and together they shared 37 years of marriage. Troy was a member of the Vassar Eagles and proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Otisville Fire Department. He enjoyed duck and goose hunting, mudbogging, and working on trucks, but some of his favorite moments were simply spent surrounded by family and friends – he especially looked forward to the good times shared with his Bingo Night Crew. Troy was a family man through and through and was always good for a laugh. His sense of humor was a big part of who he was, and he loved joking around and having a good time with the people he cared about most. He will be dearly missed.

Frey; Father-in-law, Dale E. Peterson; Brothers-in-law: Dale H. (Bebie) Peterson and Darrin E. Peterson; Nieces and Nephew: Taylor, Davos, Davina, Devon, and Daryian; Beloved Uncle, Guy Carll; Lifelong best friend and bonus brother, Jason Agle; The Bingo Night Crew: Rick Burt, Kevin Lewis, Cory Seidell, Brad Turland, Billy Loik, Dave Upthegrove, and Jimmy DeLong; Loving companion, Gretta. Troy was preceded in death by: Father, John Phillips; Sister, Bridget Scott; Grandma Carll; Mother-in-law, Diane J. Peterson. |
