Mary Ann Seder
Oct. 29, 1941-Nov. 28, 2024
Mary Ann Seder, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully Nov. 28, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 83. Born October 29, 1941, to the late Annabelle and Harold Periard, Mary Ann lived a life of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. She grew up in Burt, Michigan, graduating from Birch Run High School in 1959.
On February 25, 1961, Mary Ann married Jerry Seder, and together they built a home filled with warmth and adventure. As a mother, she fostered fierce independence and confidence in her daughters, always accepting and meeting them where they were. She loved socializing in the community and traveling with Jerry, whose atlas often guided their camping and road trips with family and friends. Mary Ann embraced the joy of exploring, with Jerry as her navigator and partner in every sense, always returning home with a humorous story to share.
Mary Ann’s spirit of generosity and love extended beyond her family. She served as a secretary at her church for many years, always bringing her signature warmth and kindness to those around her.
As a grandmother, Mary Ann was the one you turned to for comfort — and for fun. She wasn’t the grandma baking pies or knitting blankets (she left those talents to the great grandmas), but she was always the first to say "yes" to imaginary games and the wild ideas her grandchildren dreamed up. She brought her grandchildren comfort when they needed it most and listened without judgment. As they grew older, Mary Ann continued to be a steady presence, sharing simple yet profound wisdom in a way that ensured her words and experiences live on through them.
Mary Ann is survived by her beloved family; daughters, Julie (James) Boyer of Williamston, MI, Tina Seder of St. Clair Shores, MI, and Karen Seder of Rochester, MI; her grandchildren, Phillip (Alecs) Spotts and Allison McLary; her great-grandsons, Jack and Tristan McLary; her sister Charlene (Roger) Romanski; her brother-in-law Ken (Sharon) Hauck; and several nieces and nephews. She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Jerry, and her sister, Becky Hauck, whom she loved dearly.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the special friends and caring staff at The Oaks of Woodfield in Grand Blanc for their love and support.
Mary Ann’s legacy of love, laughter, and acceptance lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be remembered for her generosity, her loving spirit, and the way she made everyone feel seen and loved.
