REUTHER, Colette – Of Davison, age 94, died Thursday, October 13, 2022 at her residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, Father Andrew Czajkowski officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, MI 48507.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Reuther will be at the church from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the Mass.
Colette was born in Flint, Michigan on March 9, 1928, the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Breen) Root. She graduated from St. Matthew Catholic High School in 1947. On August 28, 1948 she married Donald J. Reuther and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1992. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, former member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Colette was a member of the Klinker’s Club, with her girlfriends at St. Matthew’s School.
Colette was a talented seamstress, baker and caregiver. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are children, Michael J. Reuther, Donna M. Whalen (Reuther), William H. Reuther, Theresa C.(Donald) Simon, James B. (Sharon) Reuther, Sharon K. (Patrick) Hladik and Karen A. (Matthew) Crown;
son-in-law, Anthony P. Lajewski;
16 grandchildren, Brad Lajewski, Brian Reuther, Erin Lesner, Susan Whalen, Julie McAlister, Michael Whalen, Bridget Reuther, Olivia Reuther, Ryan Hladik, Joseph Hladik, Joseph Crown, Sarah Crown,
Melissa Crown and Hannah Crown;
step-grandchildren, Heather Neu and Chad Simon;
14 great-grandchildren, Emma Reuther, Myah Reuther, Wyatt Reuther,
Adelaide “Addie” McAlister, Ainsley McAlister, Amelia McAlister,
Anna Lesner, Anthony Lajewski, Lydia Lajewski, Claire Lajewski,
Thomas Lajewski, Jonathon Lajewski, Nichols Lajewski and Noah Lajewski;
sister, Julia Reardon and brother, Jerry Root.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Jo Lajewski(Reuther); grandchildren, Todd M. Lajewski and Matthew F. Whalen; brothers, Dallas Root, Erwin Root, John Root and Theodore Root and sister, Mary Mobley.
