THOMPSON, David B. Sr., - of Clio, age 87, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, surrounded by family. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at 1:30PM, Monday, September 19, 2022, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 10AM until the time of celebration at 1:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester Hills.

David was born June 14, 1935, in Hinckley, Minnesota, to the late Henry G. and Arvilla E. (Pile) Thompson. He married Frances Leach on October 4, 1958, in Lexington, North Carolina. David retired from General Motors - Buick as a machine operator in 1992 with 38 years seniority. He was a member of the UAW Local #599, Genesee Lions for over 30 years, and Boy Scouts of America with his son. David enjoyed collecting, had an extensive CD collection, vinyl collection and die cast cars. He also enjoyed listening to country music, watching NASCAR, playing poker with family, and participating with the Clio football chain gang. David loved hunting with family for over 40 years and would go on hunting trips with his brother in law, Marvin E. Morse I. Above all, David loved spending time with his family and will forever be remembered by his favorite quote “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best.”

Surviving are: Wife of 63 years, Frances Thompson; Son, David B. (Kerry) Thompson, Jr.; Daughters: Cynthia (David) Phaneuf, Cathy Thompson, and Carolyn Burwell (Fiancé Ronald Duncan); Grandchildren: Andrew Bellant, Johnathon (Shannon) Thompson, Kathleen Brodie, Jessica Thompson, Emily Joy (Raymond) Gifford, Emilee (Adam) Amon, and Megan Burwell; 10 great grandchildren; Sister, Janice Miller; Several nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends. David was also preceded in death by: Stepfather, Gordon Aylsworth; Son in law, Dean A. Burwell; Sisters: Dorothy Morse, and Sharon Isham; Brother, Richard E. Thompson; Brothers in law: Marvin E. Morse I , Frederick R. Isham, and Marvin E. Miller. The family extends a special thank you to Residential Home Health and Hospice, personal caregiver – Rene Kann, and other caregivers for all their support, love and care.
