Ford, Eugene R. - Age 91, of Flint Township, passed away December 16, 2023. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. (A live stream of the service will be available on Eugene's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Interment will follow at 1:30 PM in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Visitation will be held 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 19; and 11:00 AM until the service time Wednesday December 20 at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Eugene was born April 10, 1932 in Amagon, Arkansas, the son of Leonard Brady Ford and Hazel (Balch) Ford. He was a 1950 graduate of Newport High School. Eugene was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Wanda Rogers on May 5, 1956. He retired from General Motors and then worked as a grounds keeper for 22 years at Sunset Hills Cemetery. He enjoyed his Buick Breakfast Bunch.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Wanda; two daughters, Ruthann Roby, and Amy (Devon) Lougheed; three grandchildren, Rachel Bedard, Jacob (Janel) Lougheed, and Laura (Chad) Massey; five great-grandchildren, Ava, Emma, Maggie, Bailey and Elias; sister, Fannie Sutherland of Newport, AR; four nieces and one nephew.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Ford; sister, Ola Cash and one nephew.
