DAVENPORT, Shirley M. (Davis) – of Davison, age 91, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, at Maple Woods Manor. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, in Shirley’s memory.
Shirley was born on November 15, 1934, in Flint, Michigan, the beloved daughter of the late George and Mildred (Ackerman) Davis. She later married Belvin Vernon Davenport, the love of her life, who preceded her in death in 1996. Shirley was the heart of her family and a truly selfless woman whose greatest joy was caring for those she loved. Her hands were rarely still, as she lovingly crocheted countless handmade blankets for family and friends. Each stitch was a reflection of her warmth and devotion. Shirley enjoyed playing bingo, cooking meals that brought everyone to the table, and sharing her famous macaroni and cheese and rich, homemade brownies. She had a playful spirit as well, cherishing her collection of Betty Boop and elephant figurines, which brought her both comfort and joy. Above all, Shirley’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Shirley is survived by her daughter: Bonnie Davenport; grandchildren: Timothy (Jody) Davenport, Scott (Tiffany) Davenport, Nelson (Stacey) Davenport, April Davenport, and Sabrina (Jason) Wilzer; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Dale (Diane) June; several nieces and nephews, daughter-in-law, Theta Bacon; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Belvin Davenport; son, Terry Davenport; siblings: Milford June, Rodney June, Beverly Newcombe, Charlotte.
