Stoutenburg, Robert James of Flushing, age 76, died Sunday, August 20, 2017. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., Flint. Fr. Thomas Firestone will officiate. Entombment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the time of the Mass. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a Knights of Columbus memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Guild c/o St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Robert was born in Flint, Michigan on March 28, 1941, the son of George and Rhea (Colvin) Stoutenburg. He married Michile M. Trudell on October 1, 1966 in Whittemore, Michigan. Robert graduated from Flint Northern in 1960. He was employed by General Motors, retiring after 35 years. Robert was an active member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Councils #695 and #510 and the St. Joseph Guild. He was a Board Member for Westwood Heights Schools for 10 years. Robert enjoyed Good Sam camping and his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Michile; daughters, Lealla Stoutenburg, Marlo and husband Scott Cockroft, Dawn Stoutenburg, Debra and husband Frank Quintieri; grandchildren, Michael and Sophia Quintieri, Sydney and Daniel Cockroft; step-brother, Wayne and wife Joanne White; siblings-in-law, Cheryl White, Marilyn Stoutenburg, Bruce Acre. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Sue Stoutenburg; siblings, Janice and Russell Long, Arleda Acre, Althea Ondovcsik, William Stoutenburg, Darwin Stoutenburg and Ron White.
