RUFF, Gail Marie – of Clarkston, formerly of Clio, died Monday, August
8, 2022 at Vista Springs Trillium Village. Mass of Christian Burial will be
held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 11, 2022 at SS. Charles and Helena
Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ken Coughlin celebrant. The burial will be at
Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on
Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of mass at 11:00
AM at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the
Alzheimer’s Association or SS Charles and Helena Catholic Church.
Gail was born January 30, 1932 in Alma, Michigan to the late Lee and
Lottie (Stevens) Donaldson. She grew up in Alma, graduating from Alma
High School in the class of 1950. Gail went on to attend Alma College
where she majored in music, earning her Bachelor's Degree. She then
went on to graduate from the University of Michigan with a Master’s
Degree in Library Science. She simultaneously pursued her passion for
music, singing at several events in college to help her pay her way
through school. On April 14, 1956 she married Patrick Ruff. They were
married for 57 years and had four beautiful children together. Patrick
preceded her in death on May 14, 2013. Prior to her retirement in 1996,
Gail worked for Mott Community College as a Librarian. She achieved
the Golden Apple award from Mott Community College for her 20 years
of service. Gail was a beloved grandmother who shared her love for
reading, gardening, music, ice skating, and so much more with her
grandchildren. Gail was a woman of devout faith and a member of SS
Charles and Helena Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting,
reading, and gardening. She had an abundance of love for the Lord, her
animals, and family (especially all of her grandchildren).
Surviving are: Children, David (Anne) Ruff, Leslie (Thomas) Shafto,
Maryann McDowell; Grandchildren, Tony (Amy) McDowell, Meagan
(Jamie) Murphy, Cristin Ackley, Ted Ruff, Tim (Callie) Shafto, Erin (Joel) Morrison, Alex
McDowell, Gabby McDowell, Kathleen McDowell; Great Grandchildren,
Sam McDowell, Harper Murphy, Ryen Murphy, Ruby Shafto, Janie
Shafto. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Patrick
Ruff; Son, Timothy Michael Ruff; Sister, Doris Haskel. Please sign our
