Cronin, Norna Lorene “Punkie” of Whittemore, formerly of Flushing, age 84, died Friday, January 12, 2024, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Rossell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Norna “Punkie” was born in Flint, Michigan on January 14, 1939, the oldest of 11 children born to Howard and Mattie (Harris) Travis. She married James Cronin on September 16, 1966, in Flint. Punkie was a graduate of Flushing High School, Class of 1957. She spent much of her career as a cook for the Flushing Community Schools. She was a member of the Flushing Moose Lodge #736, and Punkie was active in the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed playing golf. Punkie was a straightforward, no-nonsense lady, with a great sense of humor who adored her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James; daughters, Denise and husband Charles Johnson, Tamara and husband Michael Ogg; grandchildren, Allie Marie Johnson, Alex and wife Auguste Johnson, Andrew Pavelek, Kenneth Pavelek; great-great grandchildren, Mason Charles Johnson and Madilyn Rain Johnson; her beloved spoiled bichon Danny Boy; and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
