SMITH, Norma M. - Of Flint, age 83, died Thursday, January 19, 2017 at her residence.
Funeral Mass will be held 11am Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint,
Father Thomas Firestone officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to St. Luke’s New Life Women’s Center, 3115 Lawndale Avenue, Flint, Michigan 48504
Visitation 12-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Monday at church until the time of the Mass.
Norma was born in Munger, MI on August 9, 1933 to the parents of William and Catherine Groulx. Norma was the 10th of 13 children. She married Harold Smith on March 5, 1953 in Whittemore, MI.
She moved to the Flint area and became a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church where she served as President of the Alter Society for several years. She also loved volunteering and teaching at St. Lukes New Life Center. She was a leader and Lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America. She was also an outstanding professional cake artisan. Surviving are children, Susan and husband William White of Flushing, Rohn and wife Janine Smith of Davison, Craig and wife Kerry Smith of Rapid City, Mi, Angela Smith-Varner and husband Wayne of Flint; 12 grandsons, Jason, Eric and Brian Roesner, Ryan, Benjamin, Ethan, Justin, Jordan, Jesse Smith, Jason, Jeremy, Joshua White and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 2002 and several brothers and sisters.
