NEWTON, Arlene- of Montrose, age 89, died Monday, July 11, 2022, at her residence surrounded by family. Graveside service will be held 1PM Friday, July 15, 2022, at Montrose Township Cemetery. Pastor Hal Phillips officiating. The family has requested any floral arrangements be delivered to O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio and those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or to the Montrose United Methodist Church.
Arlene was born December 21, 1932, to the late Curtis and Roselyn (Whaley) Chapman. She attended Lakeville Community Schools and worked as the director of food service at Montrose Community Schools for 30 years. On February 3, 1951, Arlene married the love of her life and best friend, Robert Newton. Together, Arlene and Robert celebrated 71 blissful years of marriage and raised three beautiful children. Arlene was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church and enjoyed farming, doing housework, taking care of family, and cooking for her loved ones. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Arlene is forever loved by her husband, Robert Newton; Children: Ginger Newton, Rudy (Melanie) Newton, and Dawn (Don) Hartman; Grandchildren: Travis (Samantha) Newton, Tiffany (Matthew) Abernathy, Bree (Paul) Richardson, and Josey (Sarah) Buhler; 11 Great grandchildren; Half-sister, Charlotte Ann Riley; Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Roselyn; Granddaughter, Amanda Newton; Sister, Betty “Cork” Newton. |
