Macksood, Dr. William E. – Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, age 92, of Grand Blanc passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
Dr. William E. Macksood was born in Flint, Michigan, on October 6, 1930, to the late Joseph and Sadie (Rasak) Macksood. He was a graduate of St. Matthews School and Notre Dame University. He obtained his doctorate in medicine from Loyola University and completed his residency at Hurley Hospital. Dr. Macksood served as a captain in the United States Army. For twenty-five years, he was Chief of Surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint and was admired for his surgical skill, excellent bedside manner and genuine care for his many patients. He was a part of four generations of Macksood medical doctors within Genesee County. Dr. Macksood, or Bill as he liked to be called, was a remarkable man who was very intelligent and had a great sense of humor.
Bill remained very active throughout his life. He loved to workout in the gym, golf and play tennis. Being a devout Catholic was very important to him, and he was a faithful member at Holy Family Catholic Church. Dr. Macksood truly loved his children, and family. He leaves behind such a lasting legacy of a life well-lived filled with an abundance of love and cherished memories.
Dr. Macksood leaves behind his beloved wife, Cecilia; six children Michael (Adrienne) Macksood, Donna (Jerry) Egnatios, Paul (Joy) Macksood, Kathleen (John) Carr, Dan (Manisha) Macksood and John (Denise) Macksood; two stepchildren John (Stacey) Doyle and Laura (Carey) Roberts; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and siblings Albert (Judy) Macksood, Joan Mosos, John (Carol) Macksood and Carol (Patrick) Nakfoor.
Dr. Macksood is preceded in death by sister-in-law Carol, brother-in-law Patrick and one grandson.
A visitation for Dr. Macksood will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 3:30PM to 7:00PM, with Military honors being rendered at 6:45PM at Hill Funeral Home - 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 10:00AM at Holy Family Catholic Church - 11804 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan, with visitation at 9:15AM.
The family kindly requests that no flowers be sent, but rather memorial contributions made to Genesee County Free Medical Clinic, Catholic Charities or Food for the Poor in Dr. William Macksood's honor.
