Passed away peacefully with family by her side, Monday March 9, 2020 at Bavarian Comfort Care; age 82 years. Carol Hulien was born on January 21, 1938 in Saginaw, MI to the late Claude “Jack” and Helen (Powell) Hulien. She was married to Lehman “Jack” Connell for 66 years; he survives her. She owned and operated the Clothes Garten, Bavarian Peddler and Trade Winds until her retirement. Carol was a member of Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, where she was active in the choir. She was a member of the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce; she also enjoyed quilting, genealogy and spending time with grandkids and great grandkids.
Surviving besides her husband Jack are: children, Jeffery (Beverly) Connell of Shelby Township, MI, Gail Connell – Wernette of Frankenmuth, MI; grandchildren, Melissa (Brennen) Kerr of Frankenmuth, Abigail Wernette of Saginaw, MI, Adam Wernette of Frankenmuth; great-grandchildren, Emmett and Nilah Kerr, brother, Tom (Debi) Hulien; sister-in-law, Louise Brown.
Carol was preceded in death by brother, Dean Hulien and sister, Linda (Fred) Leeson.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street. Rev. Chuck Ball will officiate. Carol’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Elkland Township Cemetery in Cass City, MI at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Michigan Parkinson Foundation.
