STOGNER, Nancy C. – Of Davison, age 81, died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Stonegate Health Campus in Lapeer.

Private family service will be held.

Nancy was born in Flint, Michigan on May 26, 1939 and lived her entire life in that area. She married Willie Fred Stogner in 1957 and in nearly 60 years together, until his passing in 2016, they were best friends. At the core of her life was her faith, her family, and her vocation. She graduated from Flint Central High School, and married Fred a few months later. After her sons started school, she went back to school herself and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan-Flint, and a master’s degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. She worked for many years as the lead teacher in a day treatment program for emotionally impaired students in the Flint Community Schools. She also loved Christian education and served as an administrator at Valley Christian Academy for several years. Nancy was a born teacher who loved her students and poured herself into them. She also exercised that vocation by teaching Bible and Sunday School classes at her church for many decades. Her Christian faith was at the center of her life and her identity.

She was a dynamic woman, in many ways ahead of her time. She was headstrong, whip smart, and gentle all at the same time. Nothing pleased her more than being around friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved unconditionally, forgave easily, served joyfully, and cared deeply for the people in her life. She was a loyal friend, a wise counselor, and the most loving wife, mother, and grandmother imaginable. Because she was so loving and giving, her legacy and influence will last far beyond her life on this earth. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia (Harral) Cook, her sister, Norma and brother, Thad. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Brian (Lisa) Stogner and Michael Stogner, her granddaughters Andrea (Cory) and Katie, and her great-grandchildren Caleb, Kylie, and Corraine. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Ray and Diane Stogner, Donna Stogner, Patricia Stogner, and Jean Cook along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
