JACOBS, Sherry – of Birch Run, formerly of Alpena, went peacefully to be with her Lord Sunday, October 8, 2023, at her residence surrounded by the love of her family. Funeral service will be held 11AM Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Messiah Lutheran Church – 520 Butler St., in Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 2PM until 8PM and Thursday from 10AM until the time of service. Honoring Sherry’s wishes, cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Messiah Lutheran Church.
Sherry was born July 3, 1947, in Alpena, to the late Donald and Aileen (Bills) Tallman. She graduated with honors from Alpena High School in 1965 and received her associate degree with honors in 1984 from the Delta School of Nursing. After receiving her degree, Sherry immediately began working at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw where she received a certification in rehabilitation nursing and case management. She was very proud to be a nurse and took pride in helping others in their time of need. Sherry retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in 2012. On November 24, 1989, Sherry married her best friend, Gerald “Jerry” Jacobs, and together they shared 35 years of marriage. She attended Messiah Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for nearly 20 years and served as an usher. Sherry enjoyed crafting at home and going on shopping hauls. She liked to be outdoors tending to her flower garden and she especially liked going on tropical vacations to Mexico with her husband. Above all, Sherry loved her family beyond measure. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sports games whenever possible and cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
Sherry is forever loved by her husband, Jerry Jacobs; Children: Michael (Tanya) Habitz, Mark (Ashley) Habitz, and Terah (Tim) Elliott; Grandchildren: Alex, Luke, Grace, Natalie, Hunter, Beau, Jared, and Justin; Siblings: Barbara (Larry) Elowsky and Cameron (Christine) Tallman; Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends. Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Aileen. |
