HICKS (Martinez), M. Consuelo (CONNIE)- of Clio, age 69, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Hurley Medical Center. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. A celebration of life will be planned near what would’ve been her 70th birthday. If desired, donations in her name may be made to the funeral home for her grandson’s future education.
Connie was born July 15, 1952, in Flint, Michigan to Antonio and Cristina (Mancillas) Martinez. She attended Beecher High School. She retired from GM-SPO with 30+ years of service. Connie enjoyed spending time with her sister on the lake, going to see her son perform, sharing her opinions on all your business, and texting cat memes to her loved ones. She was quite the Metallica fan and enjoyed cranking the volume up.
Left to cherish her memory are Son, Quintin; Daughter-in-law, Dana; her only grandson, Gehrig; Loving mother, Cristina; Siblings: Armando (Michelle), Ricardo, Pablo (Sherry), David and Eduardo (April); Sister-in-law, Juanita, and several nieces and nephews, including the oldest, her Lil Chrissy. Connie was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Infant Francisca, and Francisca in 2009; 2 brothers, Ruben and Jose; Father, Antonio; Brother-in-law, Al Davis; 3 uncles; 3 Aunts.
Mom had a tough exterior, which made the love for her close circle of friends that much more special. She was saddened over the years as friends began to pass. For those of you still here, please know you kept her going. We take comfort in knowing she’s reunited with her best friend and sister, Fran, whom she has missed terribly since 2009. Have fun, ladies… but not too much. A special thank you to the Trauma Team and ER staff from Hurley, for your professionalism, candor, and empathy. Mom was a MI Gift of Life donor.
