LANE, Diane Marie (Lunkas) - of Otisville, MI age 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Flagstone AFC in Flushing, MI. A Memorial Mass will take place at a later date. Inurnment of cremated remains will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Diane was born in Flint, MI on April 2, 1950 the daughter of the late Stanley and Virginia (Marki) Lunkas. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School in Flint in 1968 and the Mercy School of Nursing in Cadillac, MI in 1970. During her career in the healthcare industry she worked assignments in Honolulu, HI, Fort Myers, FL, Columbus, OH, Houghton Lake, MI and Traverse City, MI. Diane retired in 2012 to Traverse City, MI moving to Flint in 2014 to help care for her mother Virginia. Diane enjoyed playing the piano and during her high school years was a volunteer organist at Flint Holy Rosary. She held an adventurous outlook on life and enjoyed traveling to European countries. Diane hosted foreign relations students from Sweden and Germany during her time in Columbus, OH. She will always be remembered as a loved and wonderful daughter, sister and friend with a generous soul.
Diane is survived by her brother, Michael Lunkas of Otisville, her late brother David’s wife Debra Fader; her aunt Sharon Best; special cousins Barbara and Phil Freebold, Yvonne Mayberry, Cora Wiecorek and lifelong friend Chris (Casteel) Curtiss.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Virginia Lunkas; brother David Lunkas and sister-in-law, Cheryl-Hromek Lunkas. Over the years she had countless four legged companions, starting with the very first Barney to the most recent and loved; Chico, Cookie and Freddy.
Diane’s lasting legacy will be one of care for family, faith, friendship and the strong
belief of love for one another.
