Frances “Fran” Simnitch, of Flushing, Michigan, age 92, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at her home. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2022 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Flint. Fr. Thomas Firestone will officiate. Burial to follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at Rossell Funeral Home Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Family Birthing Center.

Fran was born in Flint, Michigan on April 29, 1930 to Alexander and Mamie (Fox) Simnitch. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Flint in 1948. That same year she began working in the Nursery at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint as a nurse’s aide. Following that she earned her degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Saginaw in 1951. She started her over 40 year career as a Registered Nurse at McLaren Hospital in July of 1952 and remained a dedicated obstetrics and nursery nurse until her retirement in 1993. Fran stayed active with the McLaren Auxiliary until 2019 as a library volunteer, patient escort, and helped with blood drives. She also was a 25-year member of the McLaren Hospital’s bowling team.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nona Simnitch; many nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Walter (Virginia) Simnitch, Hubert Simnitch, Marie (John) Bartman, and Margaret Simnitch.
