DUFORD, NANCY (CRANSTON)– Of Grand Blanc, age 86 passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Stonegate Assisted Living surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Gary Shooltz officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contribution may be directed to New Road Baptist Church.
A private family burial will take place at Flint Memorial Park.
Nancy was born in Sault St. Marie, Michigan on March 19, 1940, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Gordo (Robertson) Cranston.
She graduated from Flint Central High School. Nancy worked for Citizens Bank and retired from Grand Blanc Schools after 25 years of service. She married Victor Duford on July 12, 1969 in Sault St. Marie. They enjoyed spending many years on the St. Mary’s River in Sault St. Marie at her family cabin.
Nancy also enjoyed casino trips, bingo, shopping, drinking Diet Coke and listening to Elvis. She was a member of New Road Baptist Church where she was involved in various activities. Nancy loved spending time in California, particularly in Carmel. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, son Dennis (Kim) Brooks and daughter Debbie (James) Desmond; special nephew David Brink, niece Barbara VanLinden; grandchildren, McKenna (Travis) Watson, Hunter Brooks, Baylee Dean, Kayle Desmond and Jamie Desmond; great grandchildren, Paxton, Preston, Kennedy and Paislee;
“The Gang” from grade school, Laura and Earl Vanderford, Sharon and George Elford, Margie and James VanDorne, Sandra and Ralph Prince, Shelby and James Giguere, Joan and Tom Hopper; extended family Gayle and Paul York; special friends and neighbors Rick and Cher Youngs who always watched over Nancy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Victor, parents Lloyd and Gordo Cranston, sister Deanna Brink, brother-in-law Albert Brink, nephew John Brink and cousin Phyllis Cranston.
