Janet Yott, age 92, passed from this life to the next on February 16, 2024.
Janet was born to Emile and Grace Messier on March 12, 1931, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They later moved to Flint, MI where she met and fell in love with Lee Yott. She and Lee married on September 12, 1948, and together they had six children, Daryl, Douglas (Donna), Daniel (Shelly), David, Darcy (Gary), and Darwin (Jennifer). Janet will forever be remembered as Mamet to her 12 grandchildren, Yvette, Douglas Jr., Lee, Marie, Justin, Erika, Sarah, Amberly, Alyssa, Samantha, Jenna, and Drew, along with 21 great-grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers Ed and Gerald, and her beloved son, Douglas.
Janet had a love for her children and grandchildren that was unmatched. She had a full-size school playground put in her backyard just so that she could sit on her back terrace and watch them play for hours. She loved to cook, and she was very good at it. She would cook large meals for her children and grandchildren every Sunday and if you knew Janet, you knew that you were always welcome. She loved animals, horses and dogs in particular, and had several of each in her lifetime.
After Lee passed away in 2008, Janet built a home in Corunna, MI on the river and enjoyed spending her days gardening and watching the deer and turkeys.
She was passionate about her family, her faith, and her country. She will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be at Rossell Funeral Home on Monday, February 19, from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Rossell Funeral Home. Chaplain Jeff Lincoln will officiate. Burial to follow at Flushing Cemetery.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Boys Town. |
