LAVALLE-LAKE, Cynthia – of Davison, age 71, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment will immediately follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM on Tuesday, followed by a Memorial Service conducted by the Daughters of Isabella, at Allen Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Right to Life, in Cynthia’s memory.
Cynthia was born in Flint, MI on September 14, 1953, daughter of the late Harry and Dolores (DeWitt) Boris. Cindy had a passion for education and foreign languages, and had the wonderful opportunity to live in Schweinfurt, Germany as an exchange student. She graduated from Davison High School and The University of Michigan with a degree in German. Cindy married Kim Michael Lavalle at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison, MI on August 16, 1975. They moved to Grosse Pointe, MI, where she furthered her studies, earning her LPN from Bon Secours. Kim and Cynthia built a beautiful life with their sons, Michael and Nathan. Kim preceded Cindy in death on October 29, 1990. After her husband Kim passed, she continued her education obtaining a degree in Japanese and an education certificate from Madonna University. She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship from the Japanese government and traveled to Japan to teach as an educational ambassador. Her passion for languages continued and she was able to converse in Spanish, French, Russian, Polish and Italian in addition to her fluency in German and Japanese.
Cynthia married Victor Lake on April 8, 1993, and became mother to Stephanie and Brian. Cindy taught at Anchor Bay, Holy Rosary Catholic School, Clarkston High School, Kearsley High School, Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) and Mott Community College. Victor and Cindy spent 32 years together and made wonderful memories on family vacations, watching musicals and plays, playing games and cards with friends and spending time with their grandchildren. Cindy also loved needle work and decorated her home with many works of her fine needle art. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Cindy will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. She was a member of The Legion of Mary, The Daughters of St. Francis de Sales, The Daughters of Isabella and the Celebration Choir at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Left to cherish Cynthia’s memory are her loving husband, Victor Lake; her 4 children, Michael (Amanda) Lavalle, Nathan (Maureen) Lavalle, Stephanie (Ryan) Gates and Brian Lake; 6 grandchildren, Ellie, Miles, Mimi, Sloane, Jack and Tommy; sisters, Julia Alden-Yakel (Dave), Maria Chappell, Bethany Boris (Dan); brothers, Gerald Boris (Drew), Vincent Boris (Tricia) and John Boris; several nieces, nephews, many other loving family members and good friends. Cindy was preceded in death by her first husband, Kim Michael Lavalle and her parents, Harry and Dolores (DeWitt) Boris. She is loved and missed.
