Born on October 25, 1949, in Durand, Michigan, to David F. and Bernice M. (Francis) Strachan, he grew up in a close-knit family with his siblings Ernie, Robert, and Joan. David's life was one marked by love, service, and an adventurous spirit.

After graduating from Durand High School in 1967, David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He then embarked on a lengthy and dedicated career at General Motors, where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 1999. His commitment to community was evident through his involvement with the Masonic Lodge in Perry and Byron, where he served as treasurer, and his membership with the Scottish Rite and he was a proud retired member of Leathernecks MC, Walking Dead Chapter.

David's heart found its match in Laura Lea Cochran, and they united in marriage on August 20, 1992, in Flint, Michigan. Laura survives him, as do his children, Denyse (Steven) Copley, Brent Strachan, Amanda Lemos, and Justin Strachan; and his grandchildren, Jayden Nequist, Tyler Strachan, Julia Strachan, David Strachan, Jr., Justin Strachan, Jr., Odin Strachan, Hayley Strachan, Caleb Strachan, Christopher Winters, Candace Baldwin, and Karin Bayliss. David was also a doting great-grandfather to Karmen Louise Stout, with whom he shared an exceptional bond.

His legacy continues through his brother, Robert (Debbie) Strachan; sister, Joan (Foster) Luchenbill; mother-in-law, Diann Lester; sister-in-law, Marjorie Britton; brother-in-law, Steven Cochran; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His furry companions, Rascal the cat and Zarra his beloved rescue pup, also survive him. David was preceded in death by his parents, his precious granddaughter Alysa Louise Nequist, brother Ernie Chapman, and fathers-in-law Don Cochran and Richard Lester.

David was a man of many passions. He embraced the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle and was an avid collector of Kato N-Gage Trains. His eclectic love for music ranged from the Beatles to the Beach Boys, Michael Jackson, and even Kid Rock tunes, which songs he often sang along to with his daughter Amanda. David's life was filled with loving and adventurous moments, whether in the tranquility of quiet times with his wife, Laura, or the joyful chaos of family gatherings.

Those who knew David will remember him as a loving, thoughtful, and courageous man. He approached life with a blend of warmth and tenacity that left an mark on the hearts of those he touched. David's legacy is not only in the memories he leaves behind but also in the way he lived his life—with unwavering love for his family and friends, courage in the face of adversity, and an insatiable zest for life.

David William Strachan's journey through life was a road well-traveled, filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
