Lila Naomi Park was born in Otisville, MI on March 26, 1931, to Floyd and Ellen Park. Lila married the love of her life, James W. Peters, on June 26, 1949, in Otisville, MI. Their journey together spanned 66 years, during which they lovingly raised their seven children: Diana LaValley, Donald (Birdena) Peters, Denise Miller (Nelson), Dwight (Terry) Peters, Floyd Peters, Dawn (Scott) Moe, and Dorothy Gustafson (Mark) Sufnar. Lila was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a cherished grandmother to more than 20, and a source of joy for over 50 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She held a special place in the hearts of her siblings, Grace and Lois, brothers/sisters-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Lila had a passion for life that extended to her love of gardening, birdwatching, traveling to all 50 states, and rooting for the Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, and the Michigan State Men's basketball team. Lila and James were former members of Grace Baptist Church of Flint, MI. Then became charter members of Community Baptist Church of Davison, MI where they served for many years. In 1998, Lila and James returned home to Michigan after living in Florida for a portion of their retirement years. Lila and James, a true partnership, traversed the country, with Lila preparing meals for crew volunteering with church building projects, including her husband, James, who laid the foundations. Over several years, they contributed to the construction of many churches in various states.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband, James; son, Floyd; grandson, Darrel; son-in-law, Phil; sisters, Grace and Lois; and her parents Floyd and Ellen. Lila's legacy is one of warmth, unwavering faith in God, and a commitment to her family that served as a steady foundation for all. Her peaceful passing was a testament to the love that surrounded her. The family finds solace in knowing she is now in her Heavenly home with the God she loved so much. This is not a goodbye, but a “see you later”. The long lifetime of memories that Lila has left her family and friends will live on in their hearts for all eternity.
