BACHAKES, Kathryn, age 96, of Flint, Michigan passed away peacefully on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Genesys Hospital.
Beloved wife of the late Theodore Bachakes, cherished mother of Paula (Anthony) Melonakos, Patricia Joseph (Paul Meloche), and the late Theodore Bachakes Jr. (Vicki). Proud and loving grandmother of Katrina Giska, Kristina (Bruce) Couturier, Michael (Brende) Melonakos, Teddy (Jenny) Bachakes, Alexandrea (Bryan) Mahar, Stephanie Joseph and Alexis Joseph. Loving Sister of Lucille Chiavaras, George Menoutes, Pauline and John Mandelaris, and the late Helen Bachakes.
Kathryn was also loved by her many dear nieces and nephews, godchildren and cousins.
Kathryn was born on December 19, 1924 to James and Alexandra Menoutes of Flint Michigan. She was one of five children. As resident of Flint she graduated from Central High School in 1942. She married Theodore Bachakes on October 19, 1954 at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Flint, Michigan. Theodore was the owner of Kings Armour and he preceded her in death on Jan 5, 2007. Kathryn was a devoted wife, homemaker, loving mother of three, grandmother of seven and great -grandmother of 11. She dedicated her life to her family and to all of whom she loved.
She took great pride in her home and loved entertaining family and friends. With her sweet demeanor and grace she gave of herself wholeheartedly. She always enjoyed summertime at the beloved family cottage on Mullett Lake in Indian River, Michigan, where so many wonderful family memories were made.
Kathryn was a longtime member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Grand Blanc, Michigan. She was a member of the choir and Philoptichos society.
Unfortunately, due to Covid and State requirement of 25, attendance at the services is by invitation. The Services will be presided by Father Jarrod Russell from the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. May her memory be eternal and perpetual light shine upon her soul. Memorials in her name may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church Stewardship Fund, 2245 E. Baldwin Rd, Grand Blanc, MI 48439.
