WENZEL, Emory George – Of Flint Township, age 88, died Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Deacon Ken Carpenter officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, and Memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Emory was born in Flint, Michigan on June 11, 1933, the son of the late Joseph and Lillian Wenzel.
He served in the United States Air Force.
He was a Master Mason and Shriner.
Mr. Wenzel was employed by GM as a Tool & Die Maker, was a Deputy Sheriff and Real Estate Agent and Broker.
He was also part owner of Wenzel Christmas Tree Farm for many years.
Surviving are children, Randy (Sharon) Wenzel,
Deborah (Thomas) Maxwell-Cook,
Eric (Regina) Haight and
Gina (Bobby) Clay;
grandchildren, Shawn Pike, Brandy Pike, Lonnie (Melissa) Maxwell-Cook, Carole (Chris) Kilburn, Clint Wooten, Casey Rice, Cody Rice and Austin Clay;
great-grandchildren, Marissa Pike, Jayden, Trent, Sampson and Derick Williams, Olivia, Ella and Mason Maxwell-Cook and Francesco Haight.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Wenzel; two daughters, Carolynn Haight and Marlene Stewart and significant other, Diane.
