Johnson, Evelyn Mae, of Flushing, age 96, died Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Majestic Care of Flushing. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Flushing United Methodist Church. Pastor Ruth VanderSande will officiate. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Friday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 am. Saturday at the church until the time of the service at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Flushing Christian Outreach Center or the Genesee County Humane Society.
Evelyn was born in Flint, Michigan on December 15, 1927, the daughter of Gordon and Sadie (Jones) Kent. She married Floyd Johnson on October 9, 1948, in Flint. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2006. Evelyn was a faithful member of Flushing United Methodist Church where she volunteered for the Clothing Closet and made desserts for their soup kitchen. She also spent time volunteering at Carriage Town Ministries and later retired from her volunteer work at the Flushing Christan Outreach Center. Together with her husband, they enjoyed playing cards, including Canasta, Euchre and Bingo. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many dear friends.
