Esther “Edie” Ethridge, 71, a 40 year resident of Lapeer (formerly of Flint), died Saturday, January 11, 2014.
Edie was born September 23, 1942 in Flint to Fred and Bernice (Chism) Robinson. She graduated from Utley High School, class of 1961. She married Jerry Junior Ethridge on July 23, 1963 in Flint. Edie worked for A/C Sparkplug where she published the plant newspaper, the “Narrator”. After she retired form A/C in 1997, Edie went on to become a freelance writer for the County Press as well as the editor of the Armada Times. Edie also worked for Elba Township Offices for several years. Edie enjoyed writing, comedians and playing the piano. Edie was a proud breast cancer survivor.
Edie is survived by her husband, Jerry Ethridge of Lapeer; children: Lisa (Bud Timmer) Severn of Gillette, WY, Mike (Dawn) Ethridge of Clio and Erin (Bryan) Treat of Lapeer; six grandchildren: Shannon (Matt) Garrett, Mallory (B.J.) Bowman, Katelynn, Kaleb, Isaac & Isabelle; eight great grandchildren: Haley, Anthony, Gabe, Addisyn, Kadyn, Grayson, Jaiden & Tyler; siblings: Betty Blosser, Kathy Thomas, Carol Tessman & Charlie Robinson. Edie was preceded in death by her siblings: Ben, Con, Dallas, Fred, Larry, Kay, Karen, Juanita, LaVern & Beverly; grandson, Austin Bowman and her parents.
Visitation will be from 4-8PM Monday, January 13, 2014 and from 1-4/6-8PM Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Edie’s funeral will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Muir’s in Lapeer. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer. Rev. Hazel Thompson will be officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association.
