KOKE, John D. - Of Swartz Creek, age 53, died Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Henry Ford Hospital after a long, courageous battle with thyroid cancer.
Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 Holly Road, Grand Blanc,
Pastor Todd Biermann officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, Franklin Avenue Mission or Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Visitation 2-7pm Sunday and 2-7pm Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Tuesday at church until the time of the service.
John was born in Decatur, Illinois on December 2, 1967, the son of Louis and Mary (Keck) Koke. On July 30, 2011, he married Carol Ann Daenzer at Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc.John earned his Eagle Scout in 1986 and was a 1985 graduate of Midland High School. He went on to attend Central Michigan University, earning both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration degree. John was a loving husband and father, and always reflected Christ in the way he lived his life. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc serving on many boards and teaching classes. A special thank you to Dr. Ghanem and the team at Henry Ford Hospital that worked so hard to care for John over the last four years.
Surviving are wife, Carol;
Children, Jay (Brandon) DuBois-Jones and Jill (Thomas) Winterstein;
Mother, Mary Ann;
Brother Mark Koke;
And nephews, Alex and Derek.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Louis Koke and sister, Deborah Koke.
