SCOTT, Doyne E. “Scottie” – Of Flint, age 88, died Monday June 13, 2022 at Mission Point of Holly.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2022 at the
Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Jim Reid and Pastor Rick Bishop co-officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Doyne was born in Rector, Arkansas on February 22, 1934, the son of the late Cecil and Wilma (Hogard) Scott, and was a resident of the Flint area for 34 years before retiring in Rector, Arkansas in 1988 and returned to Flint in 2006. After returning to Flint, he became a member of Outreach Baptist Church. He enjoyed music at Krapohl Senior Center, Hasley Church, ELBA, Davison Senior Center to name a few!
Doyne enjoyed music and was the sound engineer for the United to Stand Gospel Group in Paragould, Arkansas.
He loved snowmobiling, gardening, yardwork and spending time with his family.
Doyne married Virgie Lacewell on March 12,1954 in Rector, Arkansas.
He was a member of UAW Local 659. He was an active member and office holder of Northeast Arkansas Retiree Union Chapter Region 5.
He retired from General Motors Metal Fab in 1988 after 34 years of service.
Surviving are 5 daughters, Sheron and husband Rocky Piccobotta of Flint,
Darlene and Stephen Beebe of Holly,
Brenda Scott of Flint,
Laura and Alan Culp of Clinton Township and Genie Scott of Flint;
grandchildren, David Beebe of Clarkston,
Mandi and husband Scott Hatchew of Texas, Martina Gonzalez of Davison,
Erika Guldi of Flint,
Jennifer Defoy of Indianapolis,
Katie Grathoff of Tawas,
Stacie and husband Cyle Coleman of Mesa, AZ;
9 great-grandchildren;
sister, Francis Goode of Swartz Creek
several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virgie; brother, Ronnie Hogard; brother, Dale Hogard; sister, Donna Ford and brother-in-law, Ronnie Goode.
