MEADOWS, Kathryn L. (Walker) – of Clio, age 68, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, after a tragic accident. Funeral services will be held 11AM Monday, October 9, 2023, at New Covenant Church – 13176 N. Linden Rd., in Clio. Pastor Barry Briggs and Pastor Dan Shinabarger officiating. Cremation will follow. The family will receive visitors at the church on Sunday from 4PM until 6PM, and on Monday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to New Covenant Church – Debt Retirement Fund.
Kathryn was born July 18, 1955, in Lake County, Illinois, to Richard Walker and Marguerette (McGraw) Cook. She was raised in Flint and graduated from Flint Northwestern High School with the class of 1973. Kathy later graduated from Northwood University with her Bachelor of Business Administration. She was the manager at Citizens Bank in Flint before retiring after 35 years of service. Kathy was a faithful member of New Covenant Church where she also worked for the past 10 years as their administrative director. She served in many capacities at the church, including the finance team, ops, events planning, and her favorite, the worship team where she played percussion instruments. Every year she organized the annual rummage sale and oversaw its operation. The church also used her design sense to make sure everything always looked elegant, clean, and classy. Kathy was full of life and lived it to its fullest. She cared for others and her acts of service were endless. Kathy truly embodied the hands and feet of Jesus. Treasure hunting was a special hobby and she never saw a garage sale not worth visiting. But above all, she loved her family and grandchildren unconditionally. If you knew Kathy, you loved her and felt loved by her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are sons: Rudy Zapata, Tony Zapata, and Jacob Casselman; Mother, Marge Cook; Grandchildren: Dawson, Cameron, Layla, Beckett, Zackary, Jozlynn, and Bailee; Great-Granddaughter Hayden; Siblings:Karen (Eddie) Phillips, Kevin (Mary)Walker, and Karla Slater; Special friend, Cliff Hamilton; many loving nieces and nephews and too many church friends to list. Kathy was preceded in death by her: Father, Richard Walker; Sister, Kalem Cook; Nephew, Joshua Walker; Grandparents Henry and Elma Walker.
