They were happily married for 58 years. Charles graduated from Flint Central High School and earned a Varsity Letter on the swim team. He completed his Engineering degree at University of Michigan-Flint. He owned and operated TRAV-L-Home, Inc. He was employed with General Motors Pontiac Truck and Bus and Inland Fisher Guide Coldwater Road Plant. He was very tech savvy, a troubleshooter, and a natural builder and fix-it-man. He was a die-hard University of Michigan fan and loved to wear “Maize and Blue”. He was an avid fly fisherman and loved fishing with his family over the years in Baldwin, Michigan. He enjoyed boating and loved to travel to the North Channel in the Great Lakes in Michigan with his family. Walt Disney World was “THE” favorite destination spot and frequented it yearly. He was a member of the Zephyrhills Shuffleboard Club and won the title of amateur Florida State Champion for seniors in shuffleboard. He loved walking in the woods with his dog Katie who was his faithful hiking companion. Remembering him always will be his beloved wife, Mary; 4 sons Charles Jr. (Christine), James (Becky), John (Trish), and Jeff (Nicole); 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister Janet Carnell; sisters-in-law Jessica Van Noord (Roger) and Julia Gidcumb (Dan): and brother-in-law Tim Phillips; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Judith Shedd, sisters-in-law Ann Graham and Bonnie Phillips, and brothers-in-law Doug Graham, Robert W. Sam Phillips, and David Terry Phillips.
