BRIER, WAYNE ARTHUR – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wayne Brier, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, great grandfather and dear friend. He left us on Friday, April 4, 2025 surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, unwavering strength and devotion to his Christian Catholic faith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton. with Fr. Georges Bidzogo officiating. Following the service, Wayne will be laid to rest at Flint Memorial Park, Cemetery. The family invites friends to join them for visitation from 10-11am until time of mass Monday at the church. Wayne was born on August 18, 1943 in Fort William, Ontario, Canada to his parents Lavern and Simone Brier. He was the third born out of four boys. He graduated from Fenton High School in 1961. He worked 9 years as a bartender at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. He loved those 9 years and made a lot of wonderful memories. He graduated in 1968 from University of Michigan Flint with a Bachelors in Engineering. He worked for General Motors for 32 years as an Industrial Engineer and retired in February, 2001. Beyond his love for his family, Wayne was passionate about his hobbies of boating and golfing. He loved it when he spent the winters with his wife Carol and his mother, Simone in McAllen, Texas. Wayne and Carol spent a lot of time golfing with their friends. During the summer months, Wayne and Carol enjoyed their time in Tawas, MI where they lived on their boat at Tawas Marina. As a proud and dedicated husband to his beloved wife, Carol Brier, he embraced the beauty of a blended family with open arms. Wayne married Carol on September 29, 1984 celebrating 40 years together. He loved all of the children as his own, guiding them with wisdom, patience, and unconditional love. His greatest joy was being a father to Holly Brier-Skiver (Dan), Laura Malochleb, Dave Malochleb (Lori) and a proud grandfather to Vanessa Donostorg (Adriano), Bethany Skiver-Blysma (Mitchell), Daniel and Brynlee Skiver, Payton Malochleb (Alex), Blaine Malochleb (Hannah), Zoe Malochleb and great grandfather to Kendall Donastorg and Jameson Blysma. Wayne loved always celebrating their achievements, watching them compete in their sports and supporting them through life’s challenges. Wayne Brier was preceded in death by his parents Lavern and Simone Brier; his three brothers, Gary, Russell and Glen Brier. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his love will forever be a guiding light.

In honor of his memory, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
